Our Rooms

Our rooms have been set up with the children’s ages and learning stages at the forefront.

Our Baby room (0 – 12 months)
At Woodhouse, we know your child’s first two years are critical for the development of their brain and for language development. Babies are active learners, immediately investigating the sights, sounds, and feel of the world. We provide babies with what they need: a safe world, rich with opportunities to actively explore, with touch books, songs, and a lot of listening and responding to their vocalisations and words.

Your baby will be cared for in a loving and family environment in our bright and cheerful baby room. Our baby team will build a special relationship with you and your child and they will keep you up to date on daily achievements and milestones.

Our Toddler room (12 – 24 months)
Once your baby starts to develop and explore with more confidence, they will join our toddler room where they can enjoy high-quality toys and equipment designed to promote their learning and development at this crucial and exciting stage. We plan stimulating activities for a fun filled day, which could include drawing, music and movement, messy play, role play or other adventures! We centre our activities around meal times, nappy changes and sleep times.

Our Caterpillar room (2 – 31/2 years)
Our Caterpillar room allows your child to explore their ability to communicate, to move, to learn their independence and to control their need to use the rest room. Our practitioners understand your child’s changes in moods, interests, and capabilities and provide consistent care and support.

We offer a more structured teaching day for this age group with activities to stimulate their expanding minds, including imaginative play, creative activities and outdoor play. Arts and crafts are used to add fun to literacy and numeracy learning.

Our Pre-school room (31/2 – 5 years)
As children move out of toddlerhood and into the independence of the pre-school years our teaching becomes more structured, although your child is encouraged to approach the world with curiosity. We encourage the children to think for themselves, to find solutions to problems and to communicate with other children and our staff.

Our pre-school room is where the children participate in small group activities: listening games, introduction to time telling, language and literacy, and numeracy.

We structure these sessions around your child’s individual development needs as well as a broad choice of play activities

Our outside ‘room’
Our safe, enclosed outdoor ‘room’ has been carefully designed to provide a fun and welcoming atmosphere for our children to learn and explore, and we really do feel that it’s our outdoor learning ‘room’. We ensure all areas of learning are represented in the outdoor room and that our children feel trusted and respected and learn to engage in a range of motor activities/skills such as running, jumping, crawling and rolling. We encourage more flexibility in their outdoor play with balls, bean bags and hoops.

Quiet areas within the playground will ensure children can have a bit of chill out time when they need to relax.

Tapestry
Your child’s progress is recorded on our interactive online learning journal which keeps you up to date on their learning and development as well as their nutritional intake and wellbeing. Tapestry enables us to share special moments, in real time, with you and to celebrate your child’s progress in early years education.

All sessions are fun-packed and busy. From messy play and first steps to learning phonics and new games, there’s so much for the children to do, learn and take in, with tapestry you don’t miss a thing.
